RUO-HSIN WU
BIO
Ruo-Hsin Wu is a London-based Taiwanese visual artist who focuses on painting, drawing, and handmade animation. She holds a MA in Visual Communication from Royal College of Art. Her work is usually driven by her personal experience, dealing with time, space, and memory, especially her childhood. Each piece of her work is a non-linear story made of fragments from the world around her.
‘I draw inspiration from my childhood memories and experiences, which often feature animals, plants, and small objects that have fascinated me since I was a child. Each painting starts with a dark background, and through layering acrylic paints, the faded figures from my past memories gradually become clearer, while the characters' outlines illuminate in the darkness with a soft color palette. Those paintings are like a non-linear story on a film roll, capturing those memory fragments that give me subtle feelings. I hope that when the viewer sees my paintings, they can feel those delicate emotions and a sense that bridges the past and the present.’
