HERU PRIYONO

BIO

Heru Priyono is a Indonesian artist born in 1980. He earns a bachelor degree from the Indonesia Institute of the Arts and he is currently based in Yogyakarta.

Heru Priyono’s works transmit the desire to fill our lives with fun and bright colors when playing with those we love the most.

Playing is not just for children. Priyono shows us that it is also for foxes, pigs, cats, horses, airplanes, unicorns, lizards and surprisingly... adults. With skins of the most vibrant colors we appreciate in his work "Magic Breakfast" a family enjoying a meal outdoors in which, curiously, what we see on their plates is not new to us, but we had never seen it placed there: a toy car, a little house and a puzzle can become a metaphor that tells us: feeding on play makes us more fun.

In his paintings there is no loneliness, and although the protagonist has no company at that moment, he is always surrounded by tiny characters who portray that inner world in which one can always take refuge and feel accompanied. As Priyono says "Art is part of my survival" and he has demonstrated it with those colors that transmit us to an endless party of acrylic on canvas.
