AI FUNAKI
BIO
The Japanese artist Ai Funaki was born in Tokyo and she earns a degree from the Atomi Gakuen Women's University.
her creative universe is full of cats, beds and calm situations. “I paint with the theme of expressing a world inspired by nature and animals, and connecting it with my own spiritual world.”
In the world of Ai Funaki, black cats are often seen in her paintings, peering
skeptically from her windowsill, laying around the dining tables, stretching within fresh linen, playing in the living room, roaming roof tops tip-toeing the nighttime city-scape… their bright yellow eyes will always look back, piercing through the night with affirmation.
“…I draw a world of black cats that reflects my thoughts. Keeping sensibility, the black cat appears everywhere, and is finished with a story.”
